The Los Angeles Dental Registry and Referral System (LADRRS) has been created to improve care coordination and communication among dental providers, medical providers, and care management teams providing oral health services for children with Medi-Cal coverage in Los Angeles County.
A referral management tool for children’s oral health, LADRRS enables medical providers to send referrals directly to dental providers. LADRRS also allows dentists to send referrals to other dental providers.
The tool assists in scheduling children’s dental appointments while facilitating communication, effective information sharing, and care management among providers and delivery systems.
LADRRS is a key component of the UCLA More LA Smiles (MLAS) Dental Transformation Initiative. The tool has been developed in conjunction with Altarum Institute.
LADRRS collects treatment information on a child from both medical and dental providers, allows providers to send referrals based on the patient’s preferred dental location, and gives the receiving provider or clinic the information needed in order to follow up with the patient to make sure an appointment is scheduled and a dental home is established. Dental and medical providers and clinical support staff can sign up to access LADRRS through a secure web page login.
Users can update a patient's profile in LADRRS to document services such as fluoride varnish applications, oral health assessments, and dental treatment.
Users can view previous treatment provided and notes from past visits.
Users can download and print a treatment summary documenting oral care provided and referral information that can be given to patients/parents.
Users can download and print patient education materials available in English and Spanish.
Users can search for a dentist by Provider Name, Practice Name, preferred Zip Code, and/or other parameters. LADRRS also facilitates searching for available dentists based on the patient’s dental plan.
Users can select the reason for the referral and add further details in the Notes Section.
Users can select a dentist and submit a referral via a secure email or fax line.
Users can see if referrals have been viewed and/or accepted by dental providers, whether appointments are scheduled, and when patients have been seen.
Dashboards allow users to view data on preventive care services, referrals made, and accepted referrals.
